A cricketer claims to have captured on camera a “big cat” roaming a field near where he was playing.

Joshua Odom, 26, was driving back home when he spotted the black figure in the village of Barnsley, near Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

The video shows what seems to a black cat in the distance.

“That is a f***ing big cat,” someone behind the camera exclaims as the shape starts to move.

Joshua starts whistling and the “cat” seems to flash a look in his direction.

He was in the car with his wife Narine, 30, and friend Ben Birch, 26, when the large feline appeared off the B4425 towards Cirencester.

“We had just left the cricket ground and we were at a junction when we looked across a field,” Joshua explained to Gloucestershire Live.

“Slinking across the hedge line was the big cat.

“We stopped the car and watched it for about three to four minutes.

“It was definitely a big cat. It was massive, with a long tail. It wasn’t a dog.”

Rumours of big cats roaming Gloucestershire fields are nothing new, with countless “sightings” being reported over the years.

A dog walker claimed to have spotted a “black panther” back in June, in the same county as Joshua’s video was taken.

Gloucestershire Constabulary even asked the public for eyewitness accounts after the story emerged, but a drone unit eventually discovered it was a domestic cat.

And a woman was left shaken after claiming a “big cat” walked towards her in the UK countryside.
