Second Chance at Covid-19 Aid for Small Businesses Draws Support

WASHINGTON—The Trump administration and Congress are moving to give small firms a second chance for pandemic relief funds after the deadline to apply for forgivable loans passed Tuesday with about $130 billion in funds unclaimed.

In a late-night development Tuesday, the Senate passed by unanimous consent a five-week extension for the Paycheck Protection Program, setting a new deadline of Aug. 8. The change would need to be approved by the House and signed into law by President Trump.
