The video, shared to a ghost channel on September 16, begins with the user panning around the spooky corridors underneath Paris using Street View.
The skulls of the deceased line the pathway before something strange appears in the distance.
What seems to be a translucent shape of a figure stands in the centre of the corridor.
With the remains of more than 6 million people lying in the cemetery, situated underneath the French city, many viewers suggested it could be a “ghost”.
“That looks like an apparition to me, but it could be a trick of the light,” one commented.
Another wrote: “It certainly has the outlines of ‘some being’. It even seems like there’s an almost identical outline in the ceiling, just above phenomenon
“It looks like something paranormal, but the thing isn’t moving the slightest which is unusual.”
While a third viewer said: “Oh it’s just the shadow of the deceased Priest of the Catacomb.”
But many others suggested there was a more plausible explanation behind the creepy sight.
“It’s clearly a person, you can almost see the clothes they’re wearing,” a sceptic said. “Nothing paranormal.”
The vast majority of others tended to agree, claiming it was simply a camera glitch.
Plenty of ghostly legends surround the famed cemetery beneath the French capital.
One piece of folklore claims that if you are inside the Catacombs past midnight, the walls begin to speak and persuade you to venture further inside until you get lost.
