Emily Sparks, 83, claims a spirit called Joyce who died in her one-bedroom sheltered flat before she moved in seven years ago is “hounding” her.
The spooked pensioner claims the ghost repeatedly flushes the loo in her home, steals her personal possessions and pulls her hair while she is sleeping.
She was so scared by the ghostly encounters that she has been forced to spend two nights this week in a nearby Travelodge to escape.
But to her horror, the mother-of-four claims the ghost has followed her to the hotel suite, saying: “She followed me to the Travelodge – I spent nearly £100 for those two nights to get away from her but she’s attracted to my energy.
“She’s leeching off me. She flushes the toilet in my bathroom, that’s her party piece, but she couldn’t do that at the Travelodge because she couldn’t work it.
“I’m not afraid though. My friend keeps telling to move away because of my health but I won’t move.
“I’m going to stay because if anyone is going to deal with this I am the one to do it.”
Joyce is described as being about 5ft 3ins tall, and wearing a mustard-coloured cardigan and tweed skirt.

Emily, who claims to be a psychic, moved into the flat in Writtle, Essex, in 2011 but the ghost started haunting her two years later.
She later found out Joyce had died in her flat just two years before she moved in.
Now the spirit is always around her and won’t stop tormenting her, Emily claims.
The psychic has now started wearing a hat to bed to protect herself from the ghost.
Apparently Joyce also visits neighbours and leaves them in tears and that a previous occupant of her home had to move out because of the ghost’s presence.
Emily has even had a priest come to her home to bless her and the flat.
She added: “A priest came to my house and blessed me with holy water and blessed my home but it didn’t work.
“I have tried to get someone to come in and do an exorcism – I hope I can get someone to help.”
