Elvis Presley didn’t die from a heart attack in 1977 and escaped his hectic celebrity life to live in the Bahamas, according to a conspiracy theory.

The wacky theory was made in the Facebook Group “Evidence Elvis Presley Is Still Alive” and points to a documentary about Elvis that was abruptly shelved in 2006 — fanning the flames of the conspiracy.

Although the documentary was never released, footage from the trailer includes interviews with “witnesses” who claim to have seen Elvis alive after his death.

In the trailer, an unknown man claims that weeks before his death, Elvis told his close friends he would “have to go away”.

There is also footage of Elvis’s former girlfriend Linda Thompson saying: “My mother was at the funeral and a few days later she said ‘Yeah well you know they can do a lot with wax figures these days. A lot of people think he’s in the Bahamas.’”

In a post to fellow believers, the admin wrote: “First of all, why was the movie The Truth About Elvis which was to be directed by filmmaker Adam Muskiewicz never revealed in 2006?

“I notice that every time someone gets close to the truth, they disappear. Hmm …”

‘Elvis alive’ theories

Responding to the Facebook post, a believer said: “I’ve talked to someone who knows a person that worked at the hospital that the body was taken to.

“The nurse said they all had to sign a contract vowing not to say a word on who it really was. Sounds like a coverup knowing it wasn’t Elvis.”

Meanwhile, another person claimed that The King ought to be left in peace if he really was alive.

The concerned fan wrote: “Oh for heaven’s sake. Let the man live the life he wants to live. So sad that he had to take this way.

“And soon he will be gone. No one escapes death.”

Elvis Presley was born on January 8 in 1935 which would make him 85 if he was alive today.

His former friend “Dr Nick” recently wrote a tell-all book that claimed Elvis has suffered from constipation and suffered “accidents” on stage.
