A man has fired-up the outrageous ” Elvis Presley is alive” conspiracy by saying he met him long after his death in 1997 using another alias and living abroad.
The sensational theory has become something of an urban legend over the decades, with believers saying the King of Pop somehow faked his death to escape the pressures of his superstardom and try to save his ailing health.
A conspiracy theorist, who does not want to be named, has now told Daily Star Online he started working with a man called “Bill” in Chile who looked, dressed, talked, and even wrote in exactly the same way as The King himself.
He has shown this title handwriting samples, a voice recording, and photographs of his mysterious American pal Bill, which he claims are evidence that his theory holds true.
Describing his first meeting with Bill, during a job interview in 1994, the Chilean said: “My first impression was kind of ‘Hey! this guy walks like Elvis, is about the same height, and his voice tone sounds pretty much Elvis’.
“He was very friendly during that interview, I must say.”
In the audio sample above, he calls Bill out of the blue and gets a voice sample of him saying, “Why are you looking me up?”
The man has a deep voice and an American accent similar to the real Elvis Presley.
Bill did not like being compared to Elvis, despite sharing an uncanny number of similarities with him, according to the source.
He explained: “I started to think he could be Elvis after I told a friend all the things I had seen and lived working for Bill.
“It started as a joke – saying that Bill could be Elvis living in the underground with a new identity.”
He said that Bill “hated to be compared with Elvis for his voice” and appeared to be paranoid about it and defensive when questioned.
The source is not sure exactly why Elvis might have assumed a new identity but has some thoughts on the matter.
He said: “There are many theories about why Elvis faked his own death: he was tired of fame, had multi-million debts, legal problems.
“I really don’t know which one makes more sense to me.
“If he faked his own death, it could be any of those reasons.
“As for Bill, he moved to the north of Chile to work only for a couple of years.
“He lived in Antofagasta and worked in Mejillones, about 40 minutes away by car.”
When Bill left, it was abrupt and “disconcerting” with “no farewell party”, the source said.
This comes after Freddie Flintoff shared a conspiracy theory that Elvis could be a gardener at his former Graceland home.
Meanwhile, fans who believe that he faked his death have said Elvis went to live in the Bahamas and claimed the evidence was in a documentary.
And footage from inside Graceland in 2007 allegedly reveals the voice of “Elvis” speaking from behind a corner in the mansion.
